Guild Roster

Hey guys- until we can get a real place to host profiles and guild information, I made a pbwiki page for that stuff here. I've filled in as much information as I knew, but please feel free to add any additional information to the page. We can also supplement the page with information about who is on leave and when they will be back, etc.

Welcome Limezor!

So we have a new guildie!!!!!

My roommate's friend is a Tauren Shaman and his handle is "Limezor"

Welcome!!!!!

PS Someone /ginvite him.

Gentlemen ... welcome to Fight Club

So unlike Bendyr my pvp skill are teh weak. He can probably survive an ambush by an enemy in a contested zone ... but I'm having trouble. If anyone is unfamiliar with fighting in PVP I suggest you perfect your technique via Battlegrounds, or by duelling guild members. Anyone want to help me perfect my fear, DOT, nuke, fear, techniques?

an excellent read

Static BBQ

Jason-san brought up a good point in a previous comment. He suggested making a static page with "Meef's tips/guidelines for instances", which might outlines our policies on loot, practical macros, and common strategies that are useful in an instance. In addition to that, I was thinking it might be useful to have other static content for our guild, such as a list of active members and all of their characters, along with their professions. It would be great to know that, when I pick up some Malachite that I'm not using, for example, instead of vendoring it or auctioning it, I could send it to a lower level guild member who is in Smithing.

In addition, it might be cool to just have our character profiles somewhere so that if I find a Mail helmet somewhere, I can figure out right away if it's better than the one Meef currently has equipped or something. I looked into Allakhazam for this, and it seems they have a profile hosting service that automatically shows your equipment, but it only works on PCs. Does anyone know of any other similar profile hosting sites that might have a mac-compatible plugin?

Guide to running an instance

I know J wanted to write up a guide to instancing, but I figured this might be useful as well:

Instance Grouping Guide from Wow Wiki

It seem pretty good, I'll have J make comments on any additional info, corrections or suggestions.

The Scarlet Monastery Library and Wailing Caverns Feel the Wrath of... STEVE'S KOREAN BBQ

A great weekend for Steve's Korean BBQ! On Friday Mircalla logged on and we decided to run thru WC.

Since we were so high, not much of a challenge, but at least we got quests done and a couple blues drops.

Murloc bulgogi anyone?

Next morning was the Scarlet Monastery. After a little questing detour we got underway with a random 29 priest. Dwightshroot walked away with an Illusionary Rod! Alas I was too preoccurpied to take screenshots ><

Afterwards we went to Tarren Mill and finished off Cyclonian. Finally the Whirlwind Sword is mine!

Next we did a little farming in Arathi and now Dwight has a Robe of Power!

Things went pretty smooth, although I hope I wasn't ordering people around too much ^^; Anyhow good times, and not bad turn out. Bendyr, Dwight, and Cowchan were all there, hope to get a healer next time for some 100% Korean BBQ goodness.

I Require More Vespene Gas

Well, no actually I just require a new sword. I've been sitting on my weapon quest for a couple levels now, and was hoping to actually finish it soon. WHIRLWIND SWORD! Unfortunately, soloing it is pretty daunting, so help is much appreciated. Here's what I have left to do:

1) Go to Stranglethorn Vale (UGH) and collect 29 more Bloodscalp Tusks (from the trolls slightly north of Grom'gol)
2) Go to the Arathi Highlands and slay elementals to get charms. I currently need thundering and... either cresting or burning I forget. These mobs are 38-40, and Arathi is probably crawling with alliance.
3) Once I have those, I need to slay a 40 elite boss guy I think. This will definitely not be possible without a party.

Come one, come all, to uberdom and beyond!

My WSG addiction has resurfaced with a passion

If our runaway Shamans needed any further convincing, they should come check out Warsong Gulch. I spent some time last night in the 30-39 range and the Horde won all five times I played. The difference? Shamans. When you're lower than lv. 40, nothing is better than the Shaman Ghost Wolf for running the flag back and forth. Even in Melee, the 10x10 combat scenarios really benefit from the totems and such. The paly's benefits are so localized to himself and don't help his speed that the Horde has a huge advantage in 20-29 and 30-39 WSG.

WSG is just so kickass. Even though as a rogue I have no AOE, it still is cool to have your own specialized role (namely, stealthing in and squishing the other team's flag carrier during standoffs). And the Horde rocks WSG so hard it's not even a contest. Each gulch nets me 1500 xp, about 25 honor kills on average, and maybe 100 reputation with the Outriders. This week is a battlegrounds holiday in WSG, so you get double rep and honor there; other than the SM library run on Saturday morning, I'm planning on just doing WSG until Tuesday or so. If it weren't for the cost of poisons, flash powder, and armor repairs, I would just stay there.

The race begins

Today, I'm going to start the priest. Because leveling up is so damn boring, and even more so with slow-levelers like priests, I'm going to try to do it as fast as possible. I'll keep editing this post for awhile reporting how long it takes me to get to each level. Let's see how fast I can hit 20!

Scarlet Monastery this weekend?

We're not high level enough to do the whole instance ... but there are rumblings (from Bendyr incessantly) about doing the library part this weekend. I'd like to go, but I may or may not depending on whether or not I go to the San Jose Toy Fair and/or the Asian American Film Festival.

Here's the map

10:30am perhaps?

Another thought ... what happened to all the Rice people in this guild? I'm a bit disappointed that one of our founders straight up abandoned the guild and ran away to another server, our priest NEVER showed up, etc. Can we recruit some people? Anyone in LCC play this damn game? It'd be nice to have 5-10 active members so we could at least do instances without weirdo outsiders.

Ta-da!

Thanks to all who came to the RFK run Saturday Morning. Cowchan, Dwight, Meef, myself, and our pick-up-shaman Arbo made quick work of the pig men in the Kraul. Our group didn't have any deaths (other than Arbo's perilous trip to the actual instance, and he was a little... slow). Now I have a blue dagger, and don't feel as self-conscious when people are obviously Inspect-ing me while I wait for the zeppelin.

What's next? I should be lv 36 or 37 by this weekend; do you think we could do the Scarlet Monastery library? I'm also a little confused on the level requirements for RFD, some websites report the level requirements as 35-40 and some report it as 36-45 or so... Anyone with some more high level experience willing to shed some light here?

How Green Were my Daggers: In which Bendyr gripes about his crappy daggers

Argh! Why are all the good daggers in the low 30 levels only drops off of 38+ mobs in Scarlet Monastary? I'm still using these crappy vendor bought Daring Daggers. So far I've been trying to farm this dagger, but I've been hanging around the alterac highlands areas that he's supposed to spawn and he hasn't shown up once. I musta killed like 300 yetis yesterday or something (luckily I was still trying to get the helcular's rod drop, so it wasn't totally pointless). Blech.

Anyone want to do a run through RFK this weekend? There's the swinetusk shank there, which has a decent drop rate. It's not even that great a dagger, but it might make me a little less depressed about the un-elite-ness of my arsenal.

Ridiculous Latency

OK, so I finally had some time to play last night and when I tried to log on (around 9PM east coast time), I had huge latency (like over 1000). I even shut off all my bittorrent downloads on other computers in the network and checked my bandwidth speed using third-party website tools, and my connection was fine. It was completely unusable- I felt like I was getting hit with Frostbolts every five seconds. Frostbolts that stack! Argh! Isn't server performance supposed to be at its peak on Tuesdays, when they've just bounced?
