Weeeeee!

So after questing around Shadowmoon last night, and getting ganked twice by a stupid druid, Meef invited the new guy Steve into the guild, who then proceeded to follow me around to make sure the druid was backing off. When Meef logged, I was a mere 5 kills away from dinging. But fortunately Hallisy was around to help me out and rejoice in the moment.

Then tonight, after a delayed real-world event that kept me off the comp for nearly the entire day, I managed to scrounge up enough dough to go shopping. It was a tough decision to pick a color for the flying mount, but alas, one have to make tough decisions sometimes.

So, if you saw me on sometime in the last two days and I totally ignored you, don't take it personally. I've just been singlemindedly grinding engineering ever since the patch hit, and between last minute desperate mining runs and humiliating defeats at the Auction House, I finally scraped together all the mats to get [Deathblow X-11 Goggles], my first crafted epic!. It's kind of atrocious that I went through all that and wouldn't spring for the Blue gem... but after dropping over 400g on the mats for my helm, spending another 70 on the Jagged Talasite seemed too painful...

So, since that whole thing I need to do some quests to get my finances back in order. I'm out of the country for the long weekend (AMSTERDAM, BABY), but I definitely want to start doing the prereqs for Ogri'La and Shatari Skyguard, as I can get an awesome trinket and bracers from them. As always, Black Morass and Shadow Labs runs I need muchly. The new 70 lock can help a lot in both cases; Locks can Offtank in Black Morass and their CC will make clearing that nasty room in Shadow Labs a lot easier.

so you may notice a new 70 lock in the guild... he randomly wanted in because of our awesome name. not sure how long he's gonna stay or anything (he's been raiding, former guild downed magtherion recently, and his gear is pretty pimp) or if he seriously wants to remain with us, but i figured what the hell. he can be dwight's role model :D

cow took kotonoha on a quick tour of sfk and sm graveyard. no torturing poker, but i did score some watchman pauldrons!
cow also got kotonoha her poisons! woooo!
later i was goofing off in the sm graveyard also...
today i actually ran shadow labs twice. both times were with members of the strange box guild... though strangely enuf with different members each time. they're good folks and we mopped up the place. leggings of assassination dropped twice, but no bold in sight. oh well, completed the quests and got a fat wad of cash out of it.
my questing in shadowmoon has been slow but steady... unfortunately i'm again left with a huge chunk of group quests... where are you bbqers? :P
i hate fighting elementals so much. damn unmitigated damage. well, i guess in that respect earth elementals are ok... but lotsa them have other annoying abilities -_- knockdownsplitupondeath bastards...
also ran botanica a while back... again, no bold armor, but it was fun to get to know the instance.


slowly climbing toward my epic mount. at this rate maybe i'll have it by winter... ^^;;;

--meef needs group questing help and/or any bc instance run. and be sure to lemme know if you need a run to gear up an alt or somethin.
--kotonoha could really use a new dagger. a torturing poker would be nice (boss in sm graveyard, 5% drop, but it will prolly take only about 3-5 minutes per attempt). swinetusk shank from rfk would also be a nice offhand upgrade.
--nayuki could use a couple runs thru sfk :D

Better Living Through Mediocrity

So... First off, Meef and I created a 2v2 Arena team, with the epic name "Chicken and ROFLs"; Cow, Dwight, go see Meef and get added as alternates to the charter. Second off, we suck. We actually went 0-10 yesterday. Of course, we are both heavily PVE spec'd and geared, and we really just wanted to get our 10 games in to get our points. At our ranking of about 1345, we will still get about 250 arena points for this week. Coupled with the crappy 3v3 team i joined (about a 1400 ranking), I will get over 500 arena points for the week.

According to this point calculator here, if I were to join a similarly mediocre 5v5 team, and earn a fairly horrible 1300 rating each week, I would still rake in over 900 arena points a week. By maintaining a 1300 ranking in each bracket, I'll be able to afford the Gladiator's Shanker in just 3 weeks. Even if my teams get even worse and I only get an 1000 rating in each bracket, I still get the dagger in 4 weeks, according to the calculator.

I mean... sure, having a shitty arena ranking in 3 brackets will hurt the e-peen, and will make me more hesitant to link my armory profile in external forums, but hey, epix is epix. Why didn't I discover mediocrity sooner?

UPDATE: J has shattered my dreams. Apparently you can only get points for one bracket at a time, so my numbers are all off. If I was on a 5v5 team that maintained a 1300, I could get the shanker in 7 weeks. If i maintain a 1000, it goes up to 9 weeks. Blech. I'll stick with PVE i guess...

The offer is pretty crappy, considering that you can get more than 1% cashback on some cards in ACTUAL CASH, and the balance transfer is the usual scam, but I may sign up just for the one free month of WoW... I would be less meh if the artwork was actually good, but most of it is just the same old crap from the boxes.

you guys remember hindwes? i think that was the name of the 'cna i cmoe?' hunter. he invited me to a mana tombs group. then before they summoned me, the priest dropped and hindwes couldn't find another healer (after like 5 minutes) so he dropped. So we picked up two guys and rocked the place. man i was so happy when he dropped.

shadowmoon valley is rock. ok, sure it's all dark and burnt black, which would put it in the blasted lands/hellfire peninsula category, but man, all this shit's goin down and it actually feels like a war zone. it's great. and what the hell is this c'thun looking thing doing here.

this is an awesome area, right near the zone entrance. basically a holding area for the infernals.but they obviously didn't count on the bbq!

Bel Air'd

OK. THIS is my new favorite thread evar. For those of you unaware, there is a meme called "belairing" on the wow forums, where someone will make a post with an extremely controversial title (this one in particular has the incredible name of "Rogues shouldn't be able to restealth"), in which a poster will make some outlandish claim in a wall of text, and somewhere in that wall of text will be the lyrics to the "Fresh Prince" theme, verbatim. Most of the time it gets caught right away, but it is amazing when people fall for it, and start crying about the OP when it is clear that they didn't even read the whole thing.

The thread I've linked is particularly artful. The OP also manages to sneak in "rediculous", another good forum meme. The thread goes on for six or seven pages, and even after many people had complimented the OP on his successful trolling, many people added to the thread talking about what a bad idea it was. Some complainers went so far as to QUOTE the entire original post, which was particularly awesome. I whistled for a cab and when it came near the license plate said "fresh" and it had dice in the mirror. If anything I could say that this cab was rare but I thought "nah, forget it", yo homes to Bel-Air!

In conclusion, check it out.

curse you sethekk halls!

so i just had my first sethekk halls pug. ugh. well no, ya know, it was actually a good group. we had no problems with our pally, mage, lock and hunter. in fact, i think the group organizer purposely chose the group to have all ranged damage and maximum cc. the hunter was a bit of a tard, but hey, at least he was dpsing.

but anyhow, so yeah, no problems, we downed the first boss, make it to the 2nd and final boss with only 1 wipe (in fact, it was that last damn 5 elite pull). ...then we wipe. then we wipe again. then we wipe again... and again. and again? i forget. after like 4-6 wipes the pally was red and left. we get a 69... shadow priest. with no pure healing gear >_< well i lie, she had healing gloves... from bf i think. (those surgeon mitts, wherever they're from) but everything else was dmg crit gear. hell she still had her pvp trinket on. so we wipe the first time since she'd never been thru... then FINALLY down the boss.

ugh. lessons i learned:
1> pallies can main heal... except through boss aoe damage ;_;
2> Talon King Ikiss is a bitch
3> ikiss is a fucker
4> fucking RUN after ikiss blinks
5> everyone should run to the SAME pillar
6> ikiss casts his damn aoe arcane bolts after every blink, so make sure you can take 1-2k dmg
7> ikiss is an ass
8> a prot warrior and a holy pally can take ikiss down from 60% to 37% by themselves.
9> ikiss is a bitch

On the bright side i got a sexay plate belt (although not a tanking one ;_;) and finished the two quests outside, which netted me an awesome 93 dps polearm and a 40 sta, +def neck.

in other news a fucking dwarf shadow priest tried to gank me outside of the maghar city thing in nagrand. but i fuckin killed him!!! gyooohohohoho! prot ftw. i even missed a chance to spell reflect a mind blast.

So I was doing a quest outside of Strattrath when a warp lizard attacked me ... not a big deal ... until a 69 human warrior decided to join the lizard ...

HAHA I was triumphant ... and the 3669 soulfire crit sure helped out too ...

Meef - currently questing in Zangarmarsh. Mushroom swamp >>>>>>>>>> red boringness. Still haven't run any of the instances, although I haven't gotten any quests for them yet either.

Nayuki - my shadow priest is still running around without mindflay ;_; 2 more lvls i think? I think i have some sort of quest in ... deathholme or something? if someone wants to run me thru that lemme know.

Iroha - my combat rogue needs more talent points.

Kotonoha - she's gonna be my ambushing specialist for gank mastery. not even 10 yet ;_; needs ginvite.

I guess it's no mystery why my shit is progressing so slowly ^^;;; lvling 4 characters ftl

although i was utterly ineffective in ab, there were some good moments in wsg...

once i actually ran the flag back and got a cap. man, being prot is actually kinda cool for pvp. generally i don't get to kill anything, but i can act as a tank of sorts... rushing in and wasting unsuspecting players' time as they try and whittle me down. improved shield bash is awesome cuz i can silence damn mages running around aoe'ing. 5s stun is also uber. oh and the rogues... i was really mean to one and popped shield wall, and then put up shield block and everything else... he was hitting me for 4-15. ^_^ but yeah, running the flag back and being able to take a beating is pretty awesome.

damn druids and wsg. they get to be uber flag carrying tanks if they want to or virtually snare immune cat rockets. plus heals, their own snares and moonfire. ok, so i threw in moonfire for no reason, but still.

another time we were on our last cap and i noticed no one was at our base, so i went and hid in the little cubby by the flag. sure enough, some pally came by to snatch the flag and my uber tanking skills delayed him for like a minute until finally a hunter showed up and we finished him off ftw. seriously though, staying alive for more than 5 seconds is awesome. my priest gets no such love. -_-
